R. Buckminster Fuller saw such patterns from Universe-sized to Atomic-sized, and did so well at predicting the resulting effects the scientific world eventually informally name a Carbon molecule a “Bucky Ball.” His two volume treatise on the geometrical organization of reality is a tour de force of scientific insight into how existence itself comes together.
I once read a book that described a possession a character had as “something exciting like a Christmas decoration that he could take out and look at any time.” My Herbies have been like that ever since that fateful day on a pheasant hunt when I found the Fat Fury going back in time in his Grandfather clock with the correct lollipop. And to this day I have never met a human being (in person) who had even heard of him. If not for the ’net I would think they had slipped here from another dimension, one with one hell of a better sense of humor than this one….
Yes! the Cosmological Constant. We geeks were heartbroken that the Great Nose had passed before that was announced. I would dearly love to know what he would have said about that, even though I am still primitive enough to enjoy my digital watch.
Thank you. Just finished his 2-volume treasury and put it back on the shelf bleary-eyed from the tragedy of our loss.
