@Guy_A and @Wentil, I may be wrong, but I’m thinking of that one MUTT who remembered who they were before being turned into a MUTT and proved to be quite helpful. What if … being disconnected from Topsider control, these MUTTS remembered who they were before becoming MUTTs and they do want to help?

I hope there’s an emergency exit or an escape pod in that room. If not, then I hope that Wally can use his dittos to quickly dig them an escape tunnel.

Interesting. I don’t think we’ve ever seen the dittos fail to protect Wally and company. Is it because relatively few of them came through the portal with Wally, etc., or is it because these mutations are more powerful than the dittos?

Regardless, it looks like it’s time for Plan B. … RUN!

Time to take off the suit.

I wonder if that raccoon was possessed by the eye, considering that he was saying and doing similar things as those possessed by the eye say and do?

Duffy has been mentally and emotionally overwhelmed since Amesworth turned into toothbrushes and everything went to hell. The fact that this event happened involving his cub brother who disappeared is just one more mentally and emotionally charged thing that is driving him over the edge—- quite literally.

Thankfully, the 4th panel of the prior strip informs us that Al and Wally also see Duffy’s long-lost brother, and they quickly jump into action to hold him back from jumping off the platform in an attempt to follow his brother in the 3rd and 4th panels of today’s strip.

It’s interesting how calm, observant, unsurprised, and uninvolved the topsider is in the 3rd panel of today’s strip. It’s as though he’s seen this same scenario many times before.

Hmm. The top two panels take us back to the mysterious self-proclaimed eye ‘god’ of the gates who gained access to the topsider computer and security camera system (https://bit.ly/3rDTgKj and following day).

The next two panels are a bit more mysterious. In the last panel, we see the gate designs which Ravencroft drew on some walls in his home in Eden and left on his computer and on a piece of paper in the topsider base.

Q: Is the last panel presenting what topsiders now see, or what the eye ‘god’ now sees after hacking a topsider suit, or what the eye sees through one of the many cameras on the base?

Q: Is the topsider in the third panel reacting to reality, which the eye has revealed to them after hacking their suit, or does the gate in the fourth panel suggest that the eye ‘god’ has used a digital gate to replace one topsider with itself in the suit either in body or in spirit/mind?

Q: Or is something else going on that we haven’t figured out yet? :)

True, Jim developed schism syndrome, but my second link explains why. Sarah, on the other hand, already presented hints of being opportunist and egocentric and having a superiority complex etc. back when she was a Topsider, but it became more evident as we grew to know the character, especially at Unity.

The point I was trying to make is that cardoodles have the ability to heal (physically). So depending on Aaron’s understanding of human/cardoodle psyche (is it physical, metaphysical, or both), we might find Duffy recovering from his post-traumatic stress soon enough.

Based on what we know about Duffy, it sounds like he’s been a cardoodle for a long time, and (I could me wrong, but) he’s likely past the point where schism syndrome could be a threat to him.
