Jackson Browne ended the song These Days with the line “Please don’t confront me with my failures, I have not forgotten them”. I listen to that song and still wake up at night thinking about things I did and things I didn’t do back in high school over 40 years ago, including relationships with the opposite sex. I don’t think I have any regrets, just ghosts!
I think Gene should have listened to Warren Zevon sing “Lawyers, Guns and Money”
Well, I went home with the waitressThe way I always doHow was I to knowShe was with the Russians, too
I was gambling in HavanaI took a little riskSend lawyers, guns and moneyDad, get me out of this
I’m the innocent bystanderSomehow I got stuckBetween the rock and the hard placeAnd I’m down on my luckAnd I’m down on my luckAnd I’m down on my luck
Now I’m hiding in HondurasI’m a desperate manSend lawyers, guns and moneyThe s*** has hit the fan
Send lawyers, guns and money…
Worth noting:“I went home with the waitress”“I took a little risk”“Dad get me out of this”“I’m the innocent bystander, Somehow I got stuck between the rock and the hard place and I’m down on my luck”“I’m a desperate man”“The s*** has hit the fan”
It’s Abraham Lincoln’s birthday today! Happy Birthday Abe
