    Banging

Michael & Josef: Open the door, Richard!

Open the door and let me in

    Open the door, Richard

Richard, why don’t you open that door?

Gordon would probably take every precaution to secure a check, as well as know what endorsement of a check means.

Not a very detail-oriented woman, calling her tenants just by last name. Does she not know their first names are Josef and Michael?

Like the strip where Elizabeth said she needed a raise in her allowance.

Elizabeth: Daddy, I need a raise in my allowance!

    John: OK, let me know.

    Elizabeth: What do you mean?

John: Let us sit down and see what you have been spending it on. Receipts would be a big help. If the cost of school supplies and school lunch has been increasing, then that makes an excellent point for increasing your allowance.

Elizabeth{nervous}: Uh, you know what, I am fine with what I get right now.

    Elizabeth leaves

John{talking to himself}: Nothing tightens up a budget like the threat of an audit.

Of all things, this made me think of gaming, in particular Mafia and the protagonist Tommy Angelo. One part was where he did a mission for Lucas Bertone, an auto mechanic of high performance and luxury cars.

Tommy: Good evening, Lucas. Where you at? You got anything that needs doing?

Lucas: Ah, today was a little rough. Some guys left a car that was in a chase with the cops. I need you to dump in the ocean.

Tommy: Why don’t those guys do it themselves?

Lucas: Well, we had a deal worked out. It was meant to be a done deal, but they undid it. They were angry, but you know…Point being, you have always been dependable.

Tommy: What is in it for me?

Lucas: A lovely German sports car!

Tommy: That is worth the risk. I will do it. Where do I find the sports car?

A luxury car is parked in Lucas’ garage

    Lucas: Right here!

Tommy does mission; then returns to garage

    Tommy: It is done.

Lucas: Bad news, Tommy! While you were out doing my favor the guy came and picked up the sports car! However, I overheard him saying he was going to dinner at Roy’s Grill. If you hustle the car should still be parked there.

Tommy: What is going on? Is today Customer Appreciation Day?

Lucas: This is an exception; he owes me big time. I did a bunch of jobs for him and I have yet to see Dollar One! Heaven knows what he does, but at the same time he acts like a classy guy. This way he pays his debt to me, and I in turn pay my debt to you. You better get going.

Interesting that Elly is blunt with Elizabeth that it is time to grow up and get a good attitude with the world around her. However, when it comes to Michael, Elly frets when the slightest thing goes wrong with him and that Elly rushes to make everything right for him.

Brrr! Looks like the groundhog saw his shadow today.

John is a dentist. An implant is a metal screw affixed to the jawbone to replace tooth loss.

Could it be that Elly has been losing teeth? Maybe that explains her reaction. It is not good to have dental implants suggested then think of the forthcoming dental process to do so.

What if Bill Watterson wrote this strip?

    Elly has a shaved head

Elly: What did you do to my head? It looks like it was cut with a weed wacker!

Hobbes: Nothing a little tonic and combing can’t fix.

Elly: Get away you menace! If John sees this, he will blow his blood vessels! What do I do?

Hobbes wraps Elly’s head in a turban

Hobbes: Presto, the “Lawrence of Arabia” look!

Elly: More like the “lobotomy patient” look.

They were assigned to work together as a group whether the two of them wanted it or not. The teacher was running a classroom, not Love Connection.
