   It’s not fun for the recipient if it is not wanted. You can’t assume that someone wants the spontaneous interactions. That is why consent is important.

   I am not sure why everyone is so discombobulated over the idea of consent. It isn’t that difficult and it shows respect. Some people don’t like to be touched or kissed, or anything else, without their permission.

   I keep hearing about fighting fraud and waste, but haven’t seen any proof. Musk has bragged about finding dead people on the Social Security roles, but they weren’t being paid. He claims that he’s stopped all these wasteful contracts, but if you look at those, most were already finished or due to be done very soon. What he has done is throw a lot of people out of work without bothering to see exactly they do and create chaos. Now he is feeding himself from the trough by pushing a starlink deal on the FAA for millions of dollars when they have a new contract in place for that service already. If Trump and Musk want to find waste, they need to stop the tax cuts for the 1% and leave programs that people rely on alone.

   Our store just finished a remodel a few months ago. I still look for stuff where it used to be.

   I am the opposite. I hate to be cold, but the summer heat doesn’t bother me.

   We lost both Penneys and Sears. And we lost Kmart. Pretty much leaves us with Walmart. I miss the others.

   Our local paper closed several years ago. Like @mb, we get our news from the paper in another town. If you want local news, the radio is about your only option.

    The Right has an impressive propaganda machine in media. The Left needs to stop depending on the legacy news outlets and learn to use media to their advantage. Media that says it presents a “balanced” view ends up bending too far out of shape trying to pretend that happens.
