So, why bother telling people that they ‘look stupid’ in your opinion? They won’t care, and they shouldn’t care. There’s no ‘proper’ way to wear something, there’s just the accepted-by-society way. Think about ties. Why do people think they look good? Why do we hang this thing around our neck and say it makes us look nice? Because someone did it a long time ago, and now it’s just become normal, and we’re expected to think it looks nice.
tl;dr rant aside, I have a friend that does this with his sunglasses. I think we all know someone.
