Not to keep the argument going, but the cost of insurance was going up before Obama took office and before the ACA was passed. I remember sitting in an insurance open-enrollment period meeting at work sometime around 2006. (I forget exactly when, but it was deep into W’s admin.) I remember they were telling us that our insurance cost are going to be higher and they showed a graph of insurance costs over time and the graph showed a steep climb after W took office. I also remember that they never showed that graph again. I suspect our conservative business management knew that it reflected poorly on their preferred party. I blame the gradual and continual increase in insurance cost on the monopolies in the healthcare industry and control by the investor class. The wealthy have attained so much political power that the government won’t do anything to reign it in. It is all a big racket!
I’m with Arlo on this one. Most recently, we went on an 8-night cruise. We had a great time, but I slept very poorly. I couldn’t wait to get back to my own bed.
Most of the people I know are afraid of snakes and want to kill them no matter what kind they are, poisonous or non. It seems to be something deeply engrained in the human psyche, or more likely, we are taught very early by our mothers or grandmothers to fear them. One has to learn to not fear them and to respect them and their purpose in the ecosystem. As much as I respect them and appreciate them, I still jump back in fear when I see a snake, even if it is a little ringneck.
Don’t forget, global warming, better known as “climate change” is about “climate” not “weather”. This year’s weather here in VA certainly is weird, but one year does not make a trend. The trends show that carbon dioxide is increasing in the atmosphere, probably mostly due to our taking all the carbon out of the ground and putting it into the air. Much of this carbon ends up inthe ocean, affecting the sea life and a big part of our food supply. Another trend is the global average temperatures are increasing. So, let’s wait and see, but don’t be so sure that you right.
I think everybody missed the point. In the old days, the family was closer and when mom and dad went to bed, they kept each other warm, making babies. (No stinking e-blanket needed.) I think I know how Arlo thinks.
