Strange is right. I occasionally insert something about my cartoonist friends in my toons. The poster is a shout out to John Hambrock (Brilliant Mind of Edison Lee) who happens to be a toaster enthusiast.
Walter and WM. I enjoy reading the comments of readers who enjoy my strip. But equating terrible things that happen in real life (police brutality) and making dumb word plays (paper lives matters) and bringing up race in a racially insensitive way (he’s a person of color) doesn’t sit well with this cartoonist. Especially when my cartoon has nothing to do with any of it. Comics pages are supposed to be a respite from the doldrums in life. Can we keep it that way?
