The earliest I ever heard of that term was during a 3 Stooges short from 1939 or 40, when they were lambasting the Nazi party and their Axis partners. It was Curley who mentioned “coffin nails”. Which made me think that the tobacco companies that used to say they didn’t know about the cancer risks of smoking was just baloney.

I like how the “Supernatual” TV show explained Reapers. There are a lot of Reapers claiming the souls of those who had just died, but there is only one “Death” a god-like entity itself.

What I like about this is the fact that Calvin, as bad or mischievous as he can be at times, did not lie at all. Straight up told the whole truth. Good for him.

What a lot of people don’t realize is that in the early days of Candlestick Park the home of the San Francisco Giants when they first relocated from New York, the outfield was wide open to the very wild erratic San Franciso Bay winds. It was nothing for a well hit ball to right field to end up well into left field after being attacked by the winds. If the winds were blowing in, which it often did, sure homers would only be long pop outs. To say that Willie Mays was denied at a minimum 10 home runs a year before they finally decided to wall off the winds is just being very conservative. There is no doubt in my mind that he would have been the undisputed home run leader had he played his most productive years in another stadium. In my mind Mays was the greatest all around baseball player to ever play the game.

“And I still find books at bookmarkets I can’t resist buying. So I’ve stopped going to bookmarkets or bookstores for awhile.” … Unfortunately it still hasn’t stopped my book buying. “The Folio Society”, “Library of America”, “Daedalus Books”, “Literary Guild Book Club”, “History Book Club”, “Science Fiction Book Club”, and “Amazon” are just a few I habitually by from online.

Actually the Israeli government knew exactly what Hamas what up to months in advance. They were even warned about the financing of Hamas by other nations and Israel allowed it to continue. They knew all of that and a lot more but was too arrogant to believe that Hamas could actually pull it off. And when they did, how long did it take for the Israeli government to actually respond? Hours after the actual attack had began. I have no use for Hamas at all, or their sick methods, but to try and absolve Israel of all that has transpired is just disingenuous.
