   There is really no difference between the original from the 40’s and the newer takes, she is still basically the same but just with new story-lines, with newer more up to date world situations. Actually all the comics (DC and Marvel in particular) do it with most of their respective characters at one time or another.

    I’m sure you could ask that for just about any area within the U.S. that has had a catastrophe, let alone areas outside of the U.S. This probably has more to do with the degree of damage at this particular time than with anything else.
