The greatest part of that disbelief, in my opinion, is that Jonah has been around for the last 15 years, let alone someone Shannon has lived with – at all – in that time period.

At least, as far as G&K have depicted them – for the last 15 years.

    Until last week, of course.

ericbrower – When I first saw this arc, I questioned, do they want a child or a slave?

Good point, too; is this Brad’s idea or Toni’s?

mgl179 – That’s what we get for Jonah not appearing in this strip for – what was it – 15 years?

Even Sheriff Mordecai, the strip’s designated colorist, didn’t remember Jonah’s hair color!

I can’t imagine the purpose of this arc for anything other than some serious suspension-of-disbelief RETCON!

Well, Scott (Eric) told us vicariously that he’s for Jamie Oliver, so yeah, he’ll come up with some far out false equivalency.

    Or was it John Oliver?

    What’s his name? Whatever.

Which reminds me, I need to go to the bank.

    J.P. Morgan, that is.

Gee, that’s cute. My dog is chasing its tail!

Now, what was that guy’s name again?

    That’s frightening.

Most gnats I know are extremely focused.

    Always in my face.

    Always after my fruit.

But, if you’re comparing to Trump, then right on!

Somehow, like gnats, we just can’t be rid of him!

    Carmen was fired by Trump.

Not explained is how Winslow took her place.

    Not that it matters.

On the surface, it may appear that BD is exaggerating. But…

North Carolina did float the idea of the death penalty – for the mom – in abortion cases. That’s probably where his idea came from.

Not to mention, most anti-abortion folks are the same folks who believe most vociferously in the death penalty. (Most of us health care access folks do not believe in the death penalty, but let’s not go down that rabbit hole right now)

But he’s right on when it comes to places that want to punish women – and so-called accomplices – when it comes to women fleeing the state to have an abortion.

Idaho already does it, with laws defining a new crime „Abortion trafficking“ in which both the woman and the driver can be prosecuted for crossing state lines (i.e.: leaving the state) to get an abortion.

Western counties in Texas have also passed similar laws – affecting people not just from their county leaving the state, but people who may be passing through their county to leave the state for abortions.

Combined with the doctrine of many on the far right that a fertilized egg is, by their definition, the equivalent of a living person (as we saw in Alabama), to believe that they are pushing for the death penalty for abortion – is no longer an outrageous idea.

Saying this as someone who isn’t, but was accused of it, and had to deal with it.

    It was not pretty.

    For what it’s worth.

For all the complaints about “Don’t ask, don’t tell,” no one talks about what came before…

First, “Don’t ask, don’t tell” applied solely to the military. I rather expect most of you know that. It never affected anyone else.

“Don’t ask, don’t tell” was the compromise that first allowed LGBTQ+ into the military in the first place.

What came before was – if someone even thought you were, you had to prove beyond doubt that you weren’t in order to stay in.

And hopefully everyone remembers, back in Arlo Guthrie’s day, from Alice’s Restaurant, just say you’re gay to get out of the draft.

    CANNOT EMPHASIZE YOUR COMMENT ENOUGH!

As presently constituted, third parties are nothing but a protest vote.

Start with congress, state legislatures, city halls, county commissioners, even the local dog catcher.

Don’t just run a presidential candidate and expect us to consider you a serious party!
