Back when the west was very young, there lived a man named Masterson. He wore a cane and a derby hat. They called him Bat, Bat Masterson.
Totally useless trivia: Bat Masterson ended up moving to New York City, where he became a sportswriter. He became friends with another writer at the paper where he worked. His name was Damon Runyan. Runyan was also a short story writer. A number of his stories got adapted into the Broadway play, “Guys and Dolls.”
