I’ve not been inspired to comment here much in the last few weeks, and I’ve been finding interesting how much the comment activity here tracks with my own enthusiasm about any given strip. Look back at the delightful strip on April 1st, and see that there are 97 comments. Wisdom of the crowd?
This also reminds me of the old joke about the teacher asking the student if he’s ignorant or just apathetic, and receiving the response: “I don’t know and I don’t care!”
Coincidentally, yesterday I was listening (and talking about) Ravel’s Boléro with a friend. Just now on Wikipedia I found this:
According to a possibly apocryphal story from the premiere performance, a woman was heard shouting that Ravel was mad. When told about this, Ravel is said to have remarked that she had understood the piece.
She could have rolled it up to the basket if she did it hook shot. (Love these Bushmillerian “sight-lines”)
