The factory shop manual for my 1948 DeSoto is about a half inch thick. And covers everything. One page covers the electrics. The Owners Manual for my 2020 F150 diesel is 2" thick. A good half inch of that is lawyer speak. And the print is really small.

Boomer here, too. Missed the draft by being born 3 months too late. I won’t go to Dunkins with a gift card. I give those to my granddaughter so she can get her coffee flavored desserts.

Remember when they just read the news instead of editorializing it. Walter Cronkite comes to mind. “And that’s the way it is. July 19th 1969.”

Yup, 1948. Been in the family since 1978. All stock, save for 6 volt positive ground alternator and the manual choke. Has electric wipers, self canceling turn signals, fluid drive and a 4 speed semi automatic transmission with a clutch. The auto choke unit failed 2 years ago and a hard to find NOS unit can run $500. The manual choke was free with what I had laying around the garage. The car hasn’t started that easily and idled so nicely in years.

Seriously, it was how I loaded knives. She does not want the pots and pans in the dishwasher and prefers to wash those by hand. As far as mowing the lawn, the deal was, from her, that she’d do it one week in four if we ever got a zero turn mower because it looked like fun. We’ve had one now for five years and not once.

We don’t have a kitty, so no litterbox. When I retired, I just started loading and unloading the dishwasher without being asked. SWMBO complained the first couple times about how I did it but she relented when I said I was still waiting for her to honor her promise of mowing once a month.
