True! When I taught, I used to joke that you could really get a lot done around there without the students! :)

LOVE “Death of an Unpopular Poet”, as well as much other of his older stuff.

If by “entirely fictional” you mean the assertion that it is “liberal” is fictional, I’d agree.

  4. 20 days ago on Arlo and Janis

You bet! Check out “Voyage of the Liberdade” for the story.

One of them…he and his family were stranded in S. America after a mutiny, so he built a boat and sailed them all home to New England! :)

Except by the time Capt. Slocum set sail aboard Spray, he had decades of experience as a ship’s captain. Cheers!

Same here…every image I saw was obviously of normal aircraft navigation lights. Panicky people who don’t often pay attention to what’s in the sky all of the time. Most were in the vicinity of major airports, like Newark.

Ken, they didn’t “defy gravity” or get “fired from a volcano.” Most meteors from other solar system bodies that arrive here (becoming meteorites when they land) were knocked loose during the intense collisions that occurred during the earlier days of the formation of the solar system. Some of these are still drifting around in various solar orbits that sometimes intercept Earth’s orbit and land here.

“as soon as the plane lands…” You must not fly much. Not quite as bad here in the US as I have seen it in some parts of the world, though.

Nothing “recent” about that story…was a staple of “The Weekly World News” tabloid many years ago. Time to touch grass, my friend…
