Like when I was in chemo, my wife’s family and one of our daughters kept telling me that they were praying for me. I simply said, “Thank you” and told the doctor to keep the chemo going because I knew which one would do the job. ;-)
My daughter had a hamster once that every time she would get into the wheel, she would run for a while then stop and check to see if she moved anywhere, get back on it and run some more, stop and check and do it all again. Cute and sad all at the same time. She did seem to enjoy getting in the ball and running around the apartment banging into chair legs, feet, whatever was in sight. When I would get the ball out, she was ready to climb into it and go.
Reminds me of the commercial where boys are asked to run, throw, etc “like a girl” and then the girls are asked the same. Big difference between the two. As a father of three girls, I can attest (not that it is really necessary) that the boys were wrong in their assessments.
Public transit doesn’t have belts. Wouldn’t be used anyways. Can’t speak for school busses past the late 80’s early 90’s though. I remember them being roomy, even in high school. Got on one of my kids’ busses for a field trip once and the seats were set so close together and the backs were quite high. Guess that’s the school system’s solution to safety. Wedge the kids in and put huge barriers in front of them in the event of a crash.
Was just discussing this book with my wife a day or two ago. She was watching some family she “follows” on FB going about their morning, baking, cooking, whatnot. It made me think of the rooms with the screens for walls and how one would immerse themselves in what was going on, acting as though they were a part of it all. Give me a good book, albeit read on my e-reader, any day. She, however, would rather watch what’s taking place on screen. We are quickly heading towards the plot in that book if not more careful.
