I was a mall rat back in the 70’s when we got our second mall across from the Jr. High. Had one of my first jobs there, cleaning the multiplex theaters before school at that Jr. High. Would get picked up by the “foreman” at 4am and we would spend the next 2 or 3 hours cleaning, then off to school. Anytime we found money on the floor, it was ours to keep. Mostly change and a few ones. Found a couple of 20’s, a 50, and 100 over that time period. Had a few jobs in malls and continued to shop malls for years. When my wife and I were still on the fringe of dating (we both worked at the same place), on payday, we would always go to this little place in our mall that had the best quiche plates for lunch. Later on, it was an easy place to take the kids out to eat because everyone could get what they really wanted instead of what’s on one place’s menu. Been quite a few years since I have set foot in one. Couldn’t pay me to do it now.
Visited one in the subway system in Paris. There was an attendant behind glass in a booth. If you wanted the private room, (ladies, children, men who were either shy or needed to sit) then it would cost. Otherwise, if you were a male and just needed to pee, there was a line of urinals on the other side of a 4’ tall partition as you walked in that you could use for free. Never could get the hang of public peeing, so I always had to pay for the private room.
I, personally, do not care what one’s religion/belief system is. It’s their beliefs, not mine. It’s when they push their beliefs on others or see someone like myself as a challenge to convert, that’s where I have a problem with it. I am happily a non believer and I will never try and convert anyone who is happily a believer in whichever deity they worship.
