   They may nectar when the milkweed blooms but they get nectar from other sources too. Otherwise, yes, the milkweeds are the only plant they lay eggs on. Butterflyweed is in the milkweed family and a favorite.

   Monarchs don’t eat milkweed, just the larva do that. Butterflies drink nectar, but maybe they’d like a margarita once in a while.
