We’ve doubled our tips, hoping that would help. Very few restaurants are upping the wages. A few have, but mostly fast food places where there are no tips. Some eateries have had TWO price increases of menu items, which is limiting where we go and how much we spend. Tonight, the local diner didn’t have any higher prices beef for sammies for hub. When the delivery truck came, the order was twice as much as last time. So the diner turned it down. Field green salads are now cheap iceberg lettuce. Locally dining isn’t veg-friendly so sometimes, all I get is a limp small bowl of lettuce, with shredded carrots and a slice of onion. 5 to 6 dollars. I am willing to pay for decent food. But crops are rotting in the fields here according to the news last night.
I put enough in my checking to pay my auto-pay bills each month. If there isn’t money in that account, the bills won’t be paid if I die. I have been doing this since the mid-1990s. The only bill I pay by check is my house taxes since the local government charges a surcharge for me to transfer cash from my account to theirs. Way safer all around for electronic banking and always paid on time. And I am one of those old people….if I die, old hub won’t have to worry other than put cash in the checking account.
Nov 22 was my grandparents’ anniversary. 41 years. I was at the grocery store with mom-I was 9-buying the items to make them a cake. I think it’s why I don’t like cake or dessert to this day.

I was standing in my driveway in Michigan years ago and a torrent of rain came down the street. You could not see thru it as it was so intense. Passed right by me and continued down the street, into the farmer’s field. Not one drop on me.
