Get over it. In the real sciences, the units are not always as “metric” as you learned in 3rd grade. For example, the Planck length, the Bohr radius, the Astronomical Unit, the Light Year, and the Parsec are all sensible units of length in certain contexts, and they are every bit as “random” when expressed in meters as in feet.
Use the right tool for the job, and that includes units. But also know how to convert from one unit to another.
