There are a number of references on this particular thought. First bear in mind the statement that God made to the man Adam (Gen. 2:17), that if he sinned he would positively die, not that he or some part of him would go off into some other realm. Ezekiel 18:4, 20 denote that the soul is mortal and does die. Also noteworthy is Gen 2:7 when man was given the power of life he “became” a living soul, not that he was given a soul. So the soul is not some seperate entity, it is the life force or spirit of life in a person

Whereas Ps 149:4 and Eccl 9:5 show that the dead are not concious of anything. If the dead are concious of nothing as the Bible indicates, then they cannot suffer anything after death.

“Millions of acres are needed for farming so they can’t build homes there”

….but how big of a house does one person need? A modest home would leave the greater majority of that acre available for farming and other needs. And that was nearly one acre per person, not per family. Again, the point is that if land use was governed by love and concern for others and not by money & greed, the earth could accommodate many more

Only thing is, the Bible makes clear that the soul is not immortal, and hell is not a place of suffering. And it does also say the righteous will live forever on earth, not in heaven. It’s important to be clear as to what the scriptures actually say

It’s been estimated that the total of humans who have ever existed on the earth is about 117 billion. And the total acreage on the earth is about 126 billion. Setting aside the parts of land that are uninhabitable leaves close to an acre for every person that ever existed. The problem is not lack of room, but rather the way land is greedily mismanaged by humans.

If aging, disease and death were done away with and a good government for the earth replaced all others, then I doubt there would be many who wouldn’t want to live forever

However, you omit the fact that the actions of Paul and his companions were constantly directed by holy spirit and he was told where to go and what to do. His efforts had great success in establishing true Christianity over many lands as attested to by other Bible writers. It is more than obvious that his evangelizing work was being directed from heaven, thus not only having the approval of Jesus but also of God as well. And he was dearly loved by all of the 1rst century Christians. To suggest that he did any harm is completely without basis.

I recall you stated earlier something to the effect that Paul’s evangelizing did more damage to Christianity than others. Did I misunderstand that? In all of your posts I did not see where you were anything but critical of the apostle. But I think the real issue for those who try to disregard Paul’s contribution to the scriptures and first century Christianity is that they don’t like the idea that Christians are commanded to evangelize and be teachers. But that command came from Christ himself. Paul and many others in the 1rst century took the command seriously.
