Probably heard my comment about looking like Mr. Magoo and decided he needed to hit the gym…

Also lets us know that 1. either we are not in the present day or 2. Paul Toten is over 110!

I was thinking that too; the more time passes, the more things stay the same…

Hmmm, thanks for the info all, but if the “ancestor” to our current Toten family is the original, (really he would be about 110 or more now, if he was middle aged in 1940!) then the current patriarch must be his son, so not connected with the Reich at all. In which case all this neo-Nazi stuff is a red herring. If not one of the heirs is going all ancestor worshiping, or just normal crooks are stupid insane.

So you’re saying the story needs to have an actual brain behind it? Who knew? LOL!

Nope! On looking back, our intrepid story tellers (?) in the form of Lizz said that he was a “vet” and went to college on the GI bill, as did his son and grandson. (Funny, I though I remembered a strip where he landed in town broke, but I couldn’t find it.) Anyway, I’m thinking Gramps hasn’t a clue as to what sonny is up to.

I found an excellent example on You tube with the Frankfurt Symphony Orchestra. I recognized it immediately with the “Dies Irae” theme from the Gregorian Chant, which I learned years ago for the funeral of a nun. I still remember the long trek through the halls in total darkness, each of us carrying a candle and singing the Dies Irae. It ended in the chapel, full of lights and the high mass, celebrating her life and final union with God. You can see why I remember it!

Oh, I don’t know… my first reaction was well! Finally a specific clue (which everybody here got weeks ago) spelled out. And I agree with Ray; the history of Papa Toten should not reflect on the son or grandson, necessarily. On the other hand, those Neo’s had to come from somewhere.
