And now, with the condition of my knees, the only way I’ll fly is first class for the extra space and legroom. On the delayed flight, I got bumped to " ‘Comfort’ Plus" for the San Jose leg. Slightly more legroom but still packed like sardines sideways.
This was the second time in as many months for me to get on a plane. I hadn’t been on one for 10 years prior and THAT time was the first in the previous 10 years. At one point I had racked up enough miles to get a free ticket – a paper ticket – which I still have tacked to my refrigerator door.
That was pretty much what happened to me last week. Scheduled to fly to SJC on a 05:40 flight. Woke up at 01:00 and got to the airport by 03:00. 10 deg F walk from the back forty where extended stay parking was located to the terminal. Find out the flight would be delayed until 06:40 because the plane was diverted back to SLC the night before due to fog. 06:00 no plane. 07:00 no plane. The ticket agents can’t even find out where the plane was! 09:00 plane lands, people deplane and it gets ready for our flight back down to SLC. FINALLY at 09:40 our flight takes off bound for SLC. Delta was good though – they provided vouchers for a meal on them that day…not that we had a chance to use it though as we were getting to the next gate for the following connection.
Somewhat of a catch-22 I’d say. If there’s so much snow that they want to plow but there’s so much snow that cars can’t move without getting stuck, you’re hosed. They eventually did plow between the two lines of cars, so at least you can move now. Of course, the streets weren’t plowed so you run the risk of getting stuck in the intersection if you need to turn instead of going straight, which I almost did!
I got snowed in today. 6" over the weekend plus 6" last night on a packed ice parking lot. My lowriding Camry said “Nope!” as it started to skate on the snow. Luckily I was able to get back into my parking spot. I just hope they plow the parking lot today as I have a doctor’s appointment tomorrow morning and I fly out to CA the next day for a 10-day business trip.
