Never take for granted that she will always be there. Almost 29 years, she on her 3rd year of retirement (me 5), on a cross country trip (down Route 66). She stopped breathing, collapsed and was gone in no time. I miss my love.
Whenever we butchered pigs on the farm Grandpa made Grandma make brains and eggs for him and us 5 grandkids the next morning. After he passed that stopped. Many years later I was reminiscing about how we all got to eat some brains. Grandma smiled and said “how do you think that was possible, as small as a pig brain is?” She had been adding bits of homemade bread to the scramble and us kids never caught on.
My 85yo mother gives you anything you show interest in, if she wants to keep it (a display item or kitchenware) she notes it. Either a postit on the bottom or telling the rest of the family who gets 1st dibs. With her family history ‘hopefully ’ we’ll have to wait 15 more years.
Today is five months since I lost my Princess.
