This strip almost feels like Dana has forgotten that with Dakota intelligent hair is not a joke.

The battery’s probably dead. Like smartphone batteries are 90% of the time. :p

Summer reading list would be easier if they would assign books that are at least slightly interesting. But no, all schools want to have kids read are horrible boring things and “literary classics” (sometimes those two overlap). No wonder many kids these days hate to read. They never learned that stories can be fun.

Dropping this comic into newspapers seems to have retconned Dakota and Phoebe’s relationship. Personally I think it worked out batter the way we saw it the first time through. It seems a little heavy-handed this time.

While it does seem a bit of a shame to not have further reactions to the movie, it’s also something of a relief. While there are some moments of humor in The Last Unicorn, it’s not a comedy at all, and the contents of the movie and its story aren’t things that I feel… should be made light of.

Yes, that was pretty much the Unicorn’s reaction in the movie too, Marigold (although she was a lot more verbose about it).

When the last eagle flies over the last crumbling mountainAnd the last lion roars at the last dusty fountainIn the shadow of the forest though she may be old and wornThey will stare unbelieving at the last unicorn

When the first breath of winter through the flowers is icingAnd you look to the north and a pale moon is risingAnd it seems like all is dying and would leave the world to mournIn the distance hear the laughter of the last unicorn

    I’m alive, I’m alive

When the last moon is cast over the last star of morningAnd the future has passed without even a last desperate warningThen look into the sky where through the clouds a path is tornLook and see her how she sparkles, it’s the last unicorn

    I’m alive, I’m alive

Parents: never do this. It is evil.
