@MayKittenDMX512 (Digital MultipleX 512) is the protocol for controlling theatre lights and dimmers. It controls 512 channels (0-255 value) per line, and is slowly being superseded by sACN, Shownet, and other Ethernet/UDP based protocols which can transfer far more information at a time.

DMX is transmitted over a matched pair, with the RS485 layer 1 protocol. 5-pin XLR-style connectors are used officially, although some hardware uses 3-pin connectors despite this being expressly forbidden by the standard.

RDMX does not exist. However, RDM, Remote Device Management does, as an extension to the DMX standard, also called DMX512A. It specifies a protocol for half-duplex communication over the previously simplex DMX cables, with no changes to hardware. This allows dimmers and digital fixtures to report problems, change address, etc. without requiring physical access.

Is that enough info? All off the top of my head, btw.
