Yeah, college courses were SO easy 50 years ago. We also traveled by horse and buggy and, out here in the Wild West, had to fight off those pesky Indians. Worse yet, the internets hadn’t been invented yet so we had to rely on the telegraph.

I graduated in 1974 with NO help except from the government, loans, ONE small scholarship, work-study, and any part-time job I could find. My loans totaled $10,000 which sounds like a bargain until you adjust for inflation. $60,000+ in today’s dollars and I couldn’t find a job when I graduation except working the assembly line at a local small company building electric toothbrushes. I was “over qualified” for anything else and lost out on one job because the guy couldn’t understand why I wasn’t married and pumping out babies.

I celebrate the help so many are going to receive in clearing this debt. I still believe tuition at ANY public school, no matter what level, should be FREE.

While I have NO issues with some of this debt being forgiven I am sick & tired of people claiming my tuition (in the 1970’s) was way lower. I ended up with $10,000 in loans which, adjusting for inflation, in TODAY’S dollars is equivalent to $60,000. Yes, it’s not $100,000 but it’s still a considerable sum.

Frankly, I believe tuition at ANY public school (esp land grant colleges which are already NOT supposed to charge tuition) should be “free.” We all sure as heck pay enough in taxes to make that happen.

    It’s now 700,000 deaths.

LOL. Nope. She’s got one thing no one else has. Dick Cheney for daddy. How do you think that carpet bagger got elected in the first place.

  7. almost 4 years ago on Jeff Danziger

Good, good. STAY home. I’ve lived here 43 years. Not an easy thing with all these right-wingers. But I like it here. Low population, almost non-existent crime rate. With UPS, FedEx, and the internet I have all the comforts of civilization without all the trauma. And I have about 75,000 fellow Democrats to keep me company. And right now, all the suburban wanna-be cowboys who moved here are regretting that decision. It’s currently -9 at 7AM with a forecast high of 1. Temps dropping over the next 2-3 days to a high of -8 and a low of -20. Ah the good old Arctic Express. Sending transplanted Californians back to Cali as fast as they can pack. And BTW, Jackson isn’t part of Wyoming. People just think it is. It isn’t even in the same reality zone as the rest of the state.

I’ve lived here 43 years. You’re right. Which is why when Matty boy announced he was coming to set the local yokels straight I had a real horse laugh.

  9. almost 4 years ago on Clay Jones

And he was on QVC for a while.

  10. about 4 years ago on Clay Jones

That’s his tie that looks like a blood trail.
