In the Greek it’s ἀνατολῇ which (although it can mean ‘in the east’) seems better translated as ‘at its rising’ here, for just that reason.
There doesn’t seem to be anything in the Greek about following as such either.

“seven-nil” is how it’s said, yes. But “7-0” would be the normal way of writing it…The couple of pints would be illegal at a match but unremarkable when watching at home or in a pub.
