But they’ve never shown any dramatic arc indicating he’s no longer in her life.
Jonah has just quietly faded away.
New-ish readers of the strip would never guess that Shannon isn’t Brad & Toni’s kid, or at least a permanent member of their household.
There could be plenty of hilarity in an arc of Jonah trying to deal with Shannon, but that’s not in the cards.
Neither Brad nor Luann look particularly happy there in the back seat.
Even though they don’t always show him he takes care of her most of the time.
Whenever Shannon appears in the strip, she’s always with Brad & Toni, sometimes Luann. As far as anyone can tell, she’s with them all the time.
It’s been a looooong time since Jonah even appeared in the strip, and then almost always just dropping Shannon off.
Or a week of Frank and Luann talking about his skydiving adventure. With Nancy chiming in about what a dangerous/bad idea it was.
But more’n likely, the skydiving adventure is already gone and forgotten, never to be spoken of again.
… not that there’d be any any answers.
Is this the new badass Luann? Or did she disappear down the memory hole already?
Didn’t Bernice have a family right there in Pittsville? Or has she been exiled from them?
Doesn’t Jonah need a full-time babysitter for that little brat during this busy holiday performance season?
Has (weekday) Frank decided to forego the annual fiasco of hanging up the Christmas lights?
So many questions …
Luann is shaping up to be a professional student.
The wrinkle is, that she’s a professional CC student – taking classes forever, never getting an Associate degree.
Parachuted through the still-broken window
Also, I feel like this is the most boring route Karen could’ve written the story to go.
The ending of the story lines are always more boring than anyone predicts.
Personal growth comes from maturity and experience.
Luann has neither, and from the looks of things, never will.
