That’s pretty much what we did 44 years ago, for pretty much the same reason. The wedding planning got out of hand. Too many people got added to the wedding by relatives. We decided to go to Lake Tahoe and got married on skiis.
Best decision we ever made, and started a marriage of adventure and new experiences. We retired 3 years ago and moved to Ecuador, to continue in the same vein.
When we got married in 1972, we refused the “till death do us part” phrase. Instead, we substituted “as long as we both work at it. Marriages made in Heaven are hard to find spare parts for.”
We have had our rough patches in the 43 years since then, but never had a point at which we both gave up at the same time. The last decade has been the best, particularly since we retired and moved to Ecuador. :)
I retired and moved to Ecuador in 2013. Now I have the home phone number of my doctor. If I ask for an appointment in the morning, I will have one that day. When I visit him, he gives me full attention for as long as it takes — I have been there as long as an hour. And the bill? $30. No insurance. That is simply what he charges.
Rather nice change from when I was working in the US… :)
It was a Harvard study, so it must be true! — http://www.naturalnews.com/053333_red_wine_health_benefits_weight_loss.html
