“THEN you can tell me about all the “Training” parents get to raise good kids”

I’m pretty sure he meant that the way he said it – which has NOTHING to do with your statement. He indicated that even people you don’t know, seeing you with an infant in the grocery store, will “give” you their opinions on raising your child -and so will somebody else, and … , and LOTS of it contradictory advice. Saying parents get lots of ‘training’ from random strangers does not mean the kids will be ‘good kids.’

The Pontifex Maximus changed the length of the intercalary month(s) to a great extent by how much money ent into his pockets, which is why King Julius changed the Roman calendar.

“But of the wealthiest countries in the world, the US does pretty much stand alone in its stubborn refusal to adapt to the metric system.”But the US does NOT refuse to adapt to the metric system. In fact, it was one of the first signatories, and it has been official in this country since the late 1800s – well before most of the other “civilized countries.”What the USA has done is to stubbornly refuse to require everybody to use it for everything. By the way, most of those other countries also use other than the metric system for certain things. Where I grew up, distance was in kilometes, but gas is purchased in gallons, and cloth is measured in baras. But it’s officially listed as on the metric system.

Though I’d prefer an XL DQ blzzard (going back in time, say, the French Silk or even better the Grasshopper, or somewhat more recently, the Wonder Woman).

So this is about the redhead & the blonde back on the 26th? The way she said “I’m sorry about the way the Pierce affair ended.” Are they the two angels who are really devils.

“… there was never a place called Sumeria, only a place where people spoke and wrote in arguably the oldest written language: Sumerian.”That’s probably correct – Sumer is the name the Akkadians used for the civilization they replaced. It was not the name of a specific town of the Sumerians. The Sumerians called their language Eme-gir (or -gig) [not Semitic, not Indo European]. The Sumerians were more a coalition of several (originally five, eventually around 20), city-states of non-Semites, and the group called their coaltion (in their language) ki-en-gir, or kengir.

The Sumerians [or the people of Sumer – the coalition, not a place] started out on the coast in towns such as Ur (a long way from the coast now) near the Tigris and Euphrates rivers, in the mid 5000s BC, and were certainly Sumer [Kengir] a thousand years later. They were conquered in the mid 2000s BC by the Akkadians, non Semites coming in from the north west. They were a conquered – but still extant people 100s of years later – even the rulers around 2100-2000.

Twitch is LIVE streaming. When YouTube was envisioned, that wasn’t an option: it was for posting recordings. As machines became faster and better, Twitch was created, and yes, it’s owned by Amazon. And yes, it’s mainly for gaming.
