“Your rhymes with for. You’re sounds closer to a rounded “year”.”I’ll agree with the first. I might agree with your second, but would say I pronounce it closer to ‘yer,’ but sometimes pretty close to ewer.

Why would a lawyer with a briefcase want to steal (kidnap?) over 100 men?

Wouldn’t be the first time DT had a crossover – but has Tarzan had one?

So was the body brought here from home, or did a homeless person need shoes?

Many cultures began the year on the spring Equinox, so the year began in the middle of the month of March. If you look at our month names starting with Sept (7), Oct (8), Nov (9), and Dec (10), you can see that September was the 7th month, and yes, March was the 1st month of the year (or at least the second ‘half’ of it was).

Actually, George Washington celebrated his birthday twice a year after 1752. See his journals: he’d always comment on the 11th as to what he did for his ‘real’ birthday, and then on the 22nd he’d usually mention something about his birthday party.

As to the “11 lost days riots” – correct. A lot of people were probably like Washington: not happy about it, but what could you do? Therre were no lost days, just days with new numbers. If your birthday was Sep 3, just add 11 and now your birthday is Sep 14. And people would mark days between Jan 1 and Mar 21 as, for example, Feb 22 1757/8 [Feb 11 1757 on the old calendar was now 22 Feb 1758 on the new.Calendrics is an interesting hobby, if you have much interest in history. I do.

We were at the grandparents one winter. The hardware store owner next door plowed all his snow into a corner of his parking lot next to my inlaw’s yard, and my kids had fun tunneling into that hard-packed snow, making a two-story fort.

    I was quite impressed!

If candles were ever mentioned, I didn’t hear.

He was. But nobody asked him if they could use his name for their computing language. ;)
