My previous comment also speaks to the fantasy world that some people live in. Those who are opposed to compassionate end-of-life choices by assisted suicide seem to live in a dream that if it’s not an option, nobody facing terminal illnesses would kill themselves. Similarly, if there is no sex education teenagers won’t be interested in sex. Isn’t it ironic that their opposition to birth control and education probably leads to unwanted pregnancies and abortions? Thus, the anti-abortion folks are (one of) the leading cause of abortions?
What is the real issue here? It’s not about preventing abortions because that will never happen. 100 years ago my grandmother having found herself to be pregnant and with 4 children that they could barely feed carried a heavy weight up and down stairs until she aborted. The real issue is whether abortions will be safe and legal. Women have always and will always find way to have abortions.
Another issue is; is it moral to bring an unwanted life into the world, or one that is doomed to a terrible, abusive existence. If the anti-abortion people were as gung ho about providing care for children once they are born, they wouldn’t seem so hypocritical. Who was the nun who recently called these folks, “pro-birth, not pro-life?”
They’re way too young to be exclusive as Quill is finding out. They need to circulate and experience other people. If more people did that the divorce rate might be lower.
