I swear that my wife was guest artist today. Only thing missing was frog (for frogs legs). We’ve been married 22 years and I got to eat lamb chops at 1 meal when we were on a cruise one time. None of the others except for chicken, which is a staple of our diet.
I had never heard of this strip but I looked it up and saw how Bill Holbrook is the creator of the strip. He also does On the Fastrack which I read in the Washington Post everyday. I think I’ll give it a try.
Finally, I have finished reading all the comics from Cleats from 11/26/2001 through today. I started this epic task sometime last summer and it’s been one of the most enjoyable tasks I can remember. I also have done this for the comics Adam @ Home and Stone Soup but this strip is the one I have enjoyed the most. It so reminds me the 1980s and 90s when my 2 boys were growing up and playing soccer and LL baseball. The depiction of the parents and refs (umpires) is spot on and the maneuvering to get soccer team coaches is hilarious. I’ll recite that in another comment.
I was in the Air Force 1965 – 1968. Basic training, Lackland; tech training Sheppard (Wichita Falls, TX). When training was almost done, they had you fill out the “Dream Sheet”, which was where would you like to be stationed. Since I was a NJ boy, I picked N Atlantic states, Mid Atlantic states and then the area south of that. Next was pick 3 states. Picked NJ, DE, MD. Then 3 bases. Picked MacGuire (NJ), Dover (DE), Andrews (MD). So, where did they send me? Athenai Airport, Athens, Greece (It was a great place though!)
At least they weren’t in front of the band!
