   You did what was best. No use second-guessing yourself.

   We had a similar situation with a friendly neighborhood feral cat a few winters ago. It was down below zero (F) for days and we could see this poor cat huddled under a bush trying to keep warm. We decided to bring it inside just until the extreme cold passed. This cat hated it so much he tried to destroy our living room but we couldn’t bring ourselves to put him back out. Fortunately the self-described crazy cat lady across the street had a solution and put him inside what I call a ‘mud room’ that had a cat door so Goldie could come and go as he pleased. That worked wonders!

   My only complaint was she named the cat Goldie and he was a big, tough alpha type. That name just didn’t suit him.

   Yeah, introducing characters slowly over time is the way to go. You were fortunate. I’ve been doing my homework to catch up but having a whole new cast of characters dumped on us has short-circuited my poor brain. IMO there are already too many characters in the regular BCN cast. Without the Orb and helpful commenters like yourself I don’t think many new readers would have the patience to continue.

   This has been a public service announcement. We now return you to your regularly scheduled programming…

   It’s not so much the soap opera arc itself, it’s trying to follow all the new characters while still trying to learn the large regular cast. As a daily comic storyteller it’s best to not have such a large group of characters as it frustrates newer readers, like myself.

   Maybe there should be a separate soap opera strip which we grumblers can happily ignore. [grumble, grumble]
