Oh, please don’t start that stupid goat stuff up again. Used to enjoy the comments more than the storyline, but the goat thing disgusts me. I’m on the verge of completely unfollowing Dick Tracy, and a big part is I can’t stand reading this back and forth thing about goat love! Ugh!
Somebody complained yesterday that these same characters we see in today’s strip would be forgotten and fade away until needed in a future storyline. Now, we see them hopelessly lost in a tunnel. Nobody’s going to note that they weren’t forgotten after all? Tough group to please…
What I don’t understand is, since Tracy is telling this story as a flashback, isn’t he aware that he just met Flattop for the first time. And doesn’t that change the " historical first meeting" as a result?
My only question regarding the drawing of today’s strip is, the man just lit that cigarette and already the filter is far longer than the main part of the cigarette. Before anyone blames the mad colorist, this time the person is definitely following the artist’s lines so it’s not their fault. Unless Paul waited several minutes after lighting up to reply, but that’s doubtful to me. On the other hand, the smoke from his cancer stick is an effective illustration to what he is telling Art.
I wonder if Sue Reel is actually transgender, a guy that is becoming or has taken on, mostly female qualities except she still grows facial hair? That would fit with the lesbian character being re-introduced to us in this segment. If so, the character would add to the rainbow, as it were…
In the very first panel we see what looks like the steel plate from Steelface’s forehead lying on the ground in the midst of broken glass. I don’t know if it means the man died in the accident, but at the very least I’d say he was badly hurt. It could be he tried to dial his nephew before he lost consciousness, or maybe someone found his phone and tried to reach what he might have considered a next of kin? But gave up when the party didn’t answer.
