I had the first Legacy Outback (’97) and its gaskets failed at some 60,000 miles. A common issue I learned, but the car was great. I had them replaced and not another issue with the engine itself for the next 15 years and 200,000 miles. Rust came at the age of 12 or more but I got that done as well. Boy, did it run on gravel! Sadly it committed seppuku the day before I took delivery of a new car.
