Biking through snowfall is kind of fun; biking through cold rain is miserable. So there’s a gap, from just below freezing through kind of moderately cool where I just won’t bike through precipitation of any sort. Warm rain is fine; snow is fine, as it falls off before soaking through, most of the time.
Graduated in 2002 — we covered through WWII several times in K-12; in 10th grade, we finally made it to the Vietnam War, around the end of May, kind of in haste. The impression we all got is that the people designing the curricula didn’t really think of anything past 10 years before we were born as being the sort of thing we’d need to be taught. (Our 9th and 10th grade history teacher knew better, but he had a lot to cover, only two years to do it, and a lot of important things happened before 1970.)
