Mel was indeed battling it during these last final years of strips which is why the quality dipped a bit

Where did all the strip go? All I see is coming soon

But he’s just being a cat, Jon

All she did was chisel grime off the grill and add salt.

Not sure about owning it. It’s still distributed by Creators. The last few years she helped write it but Mell still did the art up until he died in 2016. The last strip is an old rerun Sally found and relettered the tombstone. She had other artists draw over top of it to say goodbye. She basically ran it in its final stint.

Yes, as Yardley said, 2016. The final strip Sally had other cartoonists draw over an old rerun of Mell’s that she found and reletteted.

This strip is from 2015. During the last few years as his health declined, Mell’s wife Sally wrote the strip and he drew it.

The comic was around for years before 2001. This is just where the GoComics archive begins

  9. over 3 years ago on Andy Capp

I wonder about the difference in colouring between the Daily Mirror version (pink cushion, grey dog) and this Andrew’s McMeel version

  10. almost 4 years ago on Heathcliff

A repeat gag from May 5th, 2016. Just a new drawing. Sort of.
