   Me too. Dick had just taken over for Frank in 1964, right around the time I started reading the strip.

   I checked the reprints in “Walt & Skeezix” for the years 1921-22; the February 26, 1921 strip does have the alley gang discussing names, including “Spike” “Chuck” etc, but Walt decides on “Skeezix.” No mention of an organized baby-naming contest. Walt’s memory must be slipping….

   “Guest of Honor.” It does seem to be heading to a climax. As long as Walt’s still hungry I’m not overly concerned….

   I dread Walt’s passing as well, and hope that some reasonable way to keep him around occasionally, other than reruns of previous scripts.
