My recipe for a smoothie is one stalk or 1 1/2 stalks of kale, half a ripe banana, at least a half cup of blueberries, one cup of raw oatmeal, nearly a cup of water, half cup of a commercially made ‘green juice’ and spinach leaves (optional). The oats give it some protein and soak up the liquids making it fairly thick.

The blue down below is the under mat. Where’s the real protective layer? When I vaulted, landing on something like that would nearly give you a concussion. Oh and way back when, there were high schools we visited which still had sawdust pits. You had better land feet first and then tumble.

Did that education not teach you to avoid making broad generalizations?“ Oh right. You are the product of the public school system.”Topeka, Dayton, Miami… There are hundreds of school districts in most every state. Please consider that there just might be terrible private schools and wonderful public schools beyond the scope your experience. Most students get a competent or even excellent teacher every now and then. Yes, it would be great if every human being who taught in our schools was inspiring and exacting. Our progress toward that goal is painfully slow, but I’m convinced that we are pushing ourselves toward higher standards. This conclusion comes from being intimately involved as a parent, grandparent, public school teacher and a private business owner who has seen the broad range of school experiences both good and bad.

It is called l’esprit de l’escalier. Moments after a conversation, you then think of the witty thing you might have said.

Take the entire population of our country and figure out a better way to fight poverty in old people and those who are disabled or lost their parents. Good luck. Your me, me, me perspective refuses to acknowledge just how diverse people are and how many people are shunted into poverty by winner-takes-all style of a market economy. https://www.cbpp.org/research/social-security/social-security-lifts-more-americans-above-poverty-than-any-other-program

Many brokerage fees are in the 1% range. That is 1% of your portfolio each year, every year. Many if not most have a difficult time matching the indexes. Please do the math and add up what 5 years of fees for managing your portfolio amounts to. It is easily equal to or surpasses a year’s college tuition for your child or grandchild. Just wait for a downturn and then put most of it in an index fund through a no fee brokerage. If you feel like you need to have fun investing in your own favorite companies, do it with 5% of your hard earned cash.

“ Personally I think atmospheric atom bomb testing…”This is a conclusion and not useful. Why not provide us how you arrived at this conclusion? Where did you do your research? Without such details, you are just standing outside your home shouting to the moon and behaving in a very silly fashion.

I do not agree with much of the sophomoric reasoning here. I also do not agree with conservative George Will when he presents a perspective in opposition to my somewhat liberal viewpoint (especially the campus assault column). However at least he nearly always provides agreed-upon facts and uses logical argument to sway the listener or reader. Try it you all. Others will respect you even if they disagree with you. The name calling here is truly regrettable. Try his most recent book. It is entitled American Happiness and Discontents. I could barely tolerate William F. Buckley back in the day, but he too would show you his hand, so to speak, and his logic was usually straightforward though his conclusions were viewed by me as strained. Up your game folks. Please quit arguing as if you were still in your childhood.

Sir, a point is made here about a trend, a trend involving a large number of examples. Yes, it is boiled down to an illustration of a single incident. Rather than arguing back with a single example, try asking yourself if there is a flaw in the system, in how we organize, train and equip our police forces. The cases of unequal treatment are yelling at us that we need to change the system. Dang, I’m tired of people using the excuse of a few bad apples.

Caffeine, carbonated drinks, too much vitamin C, alcohol & chocolate are all irritants to the prostate. So, in my late 60’s, I’m giving up a few things that I would rather enjoy more of. You asked the question.
