At first I thought Bets was a cool girl, but as the strip progressed I began to dislike her because of her actions. I feel like she never really faced consequences for what she did, the breakup being the closest thing to it.
Gunther is now part of Bets’ list of bad love experiences. And since it was constant in that relationship, the decision to end it was made by Bets without considering Gunther.
Brad and Toni’s story was accompanied by an evolution for the better of Luann’s brother. It was felt that Toni greatly influenced his maturation. Now we have Gunther unable to act on his own and he needs someone to drag him around, with no signs that at least in the short term that will change.
Apparently, Bets will never be able to free herself from the networks, if someone thinks something without context for her it must be true. And Gunther imposes so little that no one believes him. This plot twist feels very anticlimactic.
At least three years ago Bets made a jealous scene at Gunther, without having his phone in hand. It seems that this relationship gave Bets free rein to be absorbed by the gaze of her followers.
Bets urgently needs professional help, and certainly not from Bernice. She is so obsessed with social media that it practically controls her life. And she needs people to support her in coming back to reality. Unfortunately, her beloved boyfriend, her Gojo Wakana, has so far been unable to even attempt to achieve this.
In yesterday’s strip I see Bets more interested in the reactions of her followers than in the reunion with Gunther itself. It doesn’t seem like a sincere action to me.
Also, don’t you think that Bets’ negative history will be related to her obsession with social networks? Gunther has put up with her because of her nature as a person in need of a relationship, even though he has previously given nods of displeasure at Bets’ actions.
