    The apple story – a common misconception. There were (and are) lots of tasty apple varieties grown in the North East. Only in parts of the country under Big Apple’s Thumb (Washington State) were there just three varieties.

    Our dog used to follow my wife around when she vacuumed, even though she (the dog) was obviously frightened. I think the dog was there to protect my wife if the vacuum turned on her.

    Where I grew up in snowy upstate New York (real upstate NY, not the southern tier) we started having winter break during the energy crises of the 70’s. It was an excuse to turn the school thermostat way down for a week.
