I remember, as a young teenager, being asked by the local harridan to babysit. I could not stand the parent but my mother overruled me. I was told very forcefully by the mother to never remove her daughter’s diaper, no matter what the reason. The baby cried incessantly, and I lifted a corner of the diaper to look at the situation. What I saw constituted a medical emergency, so after a series of telephone calls the “mother” was eventually arrested. She never did pay me.
