Jefferson himself admitted that his wealth was his slaves – worth more than his land and estate, Monticello. Raising a child, teaching him/her a skill such as blacksmith or cloth weaving, then selling that person brought in more money than raising a crop of wheat or cotton.

Yikes! I am getting so old! I remember the Tooth Fairy always left me a shiny new quarter.

My mother got a box of colorful metal bells. She hung them on the lowest branches of the tree. If the dog bumped into the tree, the bells would ring, and she would yell at the dog to stay away. Poor dog couldn’t look out the front window during Christmas.

That is love in action. I always chuckled at all of my husband’s corny old jokes. Time after time after time. LOL

My mother was way ahead of time. As a child (1951-1962) I was never allowed in the front seat. Not until I was a teen. Mom had seat belts installed in both front and back before they were required. To this day, I can’t put a car into drive without a seat belt on. It just goes against my nature. Even if I’m just driving to the end of the lane to get the mail. LOL

Memories. I met the man I eventually married when we were in college. We clicked but never dated because he had a girlfriend back home. After winter break, he asked me for a date. His girlfriend dumped him because she had found someone else. Worked great for me!

I had three classmates who were under the weight limit to donate blood. They could donate pediatric units, which were not as large as a regular unit. I wonder if they still do that?

Some Christian families will celebrate on Christmas Eve with one side and Christmas Day with the other. My family was half protestant and half catholic. So, I had candlelight service on Christmas Eve and Catholic Mass on Christmas Day. Exhausting!
