My parents were teachers, my sibs were teachers, I am a writer. I believe that a piece of writing that is read has two creators, not one. The work isn’t finished until the readers complete the process. Readers like writers come to anything they read with their own perspectives of the world, and each reader has the freedom to understand it in anyway they choose. The cartoonist would go completely squirrelly trying to imagine how many different ways his four panels might offend. Charles Schulz got around the problem by never drawing Miss Othmar, and on tv representing the teachers voice with a wa wa muted trumpet sound effect.
NO HATRED….geez. It’s a comic. I’ve been that kid, I have kids that have been that kid, and now likely grandchildren carrying the same genetic material into the world. Socialization is fine, but conformity sucks. The tension is what makes the strip funny, to me anyway
We do just fine here in Canada. I’ve had 12 surgeries in my life, including an amputation last year. In 1995 my son had a successful eight hour brain tumour surgery. He has two kids and lives a normal life. Finding a GP, A psych, a surgeon, all fine and our choice. Total cost Priceless. I might agree about the scum though, they’d be our one per-centres. Cheers.
