I work with kids, I can promise you they are generally well behaved. I may be biased as I was a shy, awkward child, but they may even be better behaved as bullying is not tolerated as it was when I was growing up. You said 30 years ago? I was in high school then, for context.

If you put “swans owned by the crown” in your search engine I’m sure you’ll find an article to your liking.

I tried to find the Atlas Obscura article just now, but was unable to find it. Likely as I was on my computer earlier, and am on phone this time.

It is a fun sight to look through though, should you ever be in need of wasting some time. Especially if you like to travel.

I think it is actually a part of the air ducts. It is a ledge that runs from the top step to the far wall in what would be the ceiling, except the ceiling is raised. It is about 1 foot in depth, and my Mum has decorative items lining it. My guess is the fall happened hopping over, or stretching around one of the larger items? I am just grateful she was not hurt.

I actually wrote that first but then googled it in case I was mistaken. I had not realized there were 2 versions, so thank you, I just assumed I had it really wrong.

hee hee, in my classroom I would occasionally pull out the middle name. Only in times of dire need, of course. (Luckily that only ever entailed a bit of hyperactivity.)

Another trick I would use is the parents first names. So if a child’s listening ears were turned off, for instance, I might say “Will I be seeing Bonnie, or Clyde this afternoon?” It is amazing how well said child was able to hear after that.

I’m not sure if it was a balance issue, or just a misstep? But my Mum’s cat, who thankfully is fine, fell off the weird ledge that lines the ceiling of the living room along one wall. I wasn’t there for the actual fall, but my Mum said she just walked away, calmly. Come to think of it, maybe it was what she intended to do all along ;)

I was looking at that stain too. Reminds me of when my cat yakked on a book and I did not find it right away. I hope the one above is not a favored book….
