Real talk: A lot of what people think is recyclable is not actually recyclable, and including those items in the recycling makes it less cost-effective to recycle at all. In most places, you basically cannot recycle anything not an actual can, plastic bottle, or clean (no grease, so pizza boxes are a no) paper. No leftover containers, no random plastic or metal household items, no plastic bags (they really mess up the process tremendously by getting stuck in the machines)—none of that stuff. When in doubt, throw it in the regular trash.
