Wife wanted to watch it. I got through about 20 minutes. Venal, rude, crass, bullying, almost utterly devoid of truth or reason. He spent most of it vilifying democrats, especially Biden, and bragging about, and inflating, what he sees as his accomplishments. There was almost total silence from the democratic side of the aisle and endless Jr. High School level chanting from the Republicans. No decorum whatsoever. No attempt at reconciliation or understand for the other sides concerns. It was typical Trump, childish, combative, self-serving and all about him. A campaign rally in one of our most sacred chambers, led by a petty man and wanna-be dictator. Just one man’s opinion…
Yeah, I have to wonder; if Putin were to decide Sewards’s purchase of what is now the State of Alaska, for pennies per square mile, was unfair to Russia and attack it to reclaim “rightfully Russia territory”, what part of our sovereign territory would Trump negotiate to him to stop? The only negotiation should be over how much Putin owes Ukraine, and all of those who have supported Ukraine, for the death and destruction caused by his personal vendetta.
Trying to come up with a restaurant analogy for inviting a foreign leader, who is fiercely trying to defend his democratic nation from a ruthless, Tzarist, aggressor, to publicly expose and dismantle all of said leaders negotiating points in an attempt at grandstanding for macho public adoration. No luck yet, but I’ll stay on it. One thing is for certain, it was pathetic, and venal, and low brow, and scripted, and foolish, and utterly undignified. Oops, sorry, that was seven things.
We can argue semantics all day, but blowing up numerous buildings that are known to be occupied in which innocents are killed is deplorable. It is also deplorable to hide behind innocents, but that’s gorilla warfare. I know it’s war and bad things happen. I know it’s difficult and dangerous to go into each building and sort the innocents from the terrorists. Both/all sides feel they have historical precedent, going back centuries, to justify their actions. Where does the cycle of innocents dying for someone else’s cause end?
The war of choice, if you read my post, referred to Putin going into Ukraine.
Of course, blowing up busses is despicable. Of course, Palestinians are angry. Of course, Israelis are angry. You are correct, Gaza, and Isreal too, are tiny scraps of dessert that are the site of endless violence going back 3000+ years. Each side feels they can justify their part in it. I’m just sick of it. All of it.
Not at all. Your righteous, and rather one-sided, indignation is mis-placed. I’m saying those who kill innocents are despicable and should be held to account for the crimes (yes, I mean crimes). Bombing cities in a war of choice and killing tens of thousands is a crime, and Putin should be held responsible for all of them. Hamas murdered hundreds and should be held accountable for all of them. Isreal killed thousands in retaliation, and should be held responsible for all of them. I have little issue with those responsible being killed (although the killing to avenge killing has been going on for centuries there, to what end?) but shooting through innocents, and please don’t give me the clap-trap that all Palestinians are responsible for what Hamas did, and blowing up entire cities where terrorists “might” be hiding and shooting through innocents to get the terrorists behind them, regardless of who put them there, is barbaric. If your going to be indignant, feel free, but at least be fair and honest about it.
Picking a color from one of those little samples is not as easy as it looks. Be careful, or you’ll be re-painting in the near future.
