Bernice. She is a textbook narcissist.

Looks like an upside down Erlenmeyer flask to me.

The past three cats were named Hemi (my current avatar), Cuda, and Sarajevo. Hemi and Cuda after the Plymouth Hemi Cuda from the early 70s. Sarajevo was brought into a Petco the first Saturday in December back in 2011. I noticed her as I stood in line to check out. I could tell the exchange between the rescue group and the family that brought her in was a bit contentious. I swear, every time I looked up, that little cat gave me the silent meow. After I checked out, I went back inside to ask about the kitten. She was a bloody mess. Apparently the family got the boy a pit bull puppy (and no, I don’t blame the dog but the parents) for the boy and the kitten belonged to the daughter who was crying her eyes out. The pup had attacked the kitty several times and that morning it was a bit severe so they decided to get rid of the kitty. Frankly, I don’t think the parents cared if the kitty was killed, they just didn’t want their daughter to see the dog kill the kitty. Anyway, I asked what they were going to do with her and the answer was “I don’t know, I don’t think she will live the weekend.” so I asked if I could take her. She made it through the weekend and on Monday morning I dropped her off at my vet. I had not thought of a name for her but we had been calling her dog food all weekend which really upset the receptionist by the way. During the day I tried to come up with a fitting name but could not think of one until TSO’s Christmas Eve in Sarajevo came on the radio. Hence, she became Sarajevo. We lost her on August 30, 2021 to hypertrophic cardiomyopathy although she lived for 6 years after getting a prognosis of 3-6 months. She was truly a fighter.

I love the name Luna Tic! I might have to steal that someday. The other cats names are not as interesting. I have Freyja – a former feral I plucked out of the middle of a highway one cold, rainy November night. She is a gray tuxedo (Luci Fur is a black tuxie). I named her Freyja because in Norse mythology, Freyja a major goddess, has her cart drawn across the sky by two long-haired gray cats. Freyja is gray with long fur so it seemed like a good fit. Two years ago, a cat was surrendered to the shelter in the Pittsburgh area where I used to live and volunteer. She wasn’t doing well so the shelter director asked me to take her. I had her shipped down here to SE Tennessee. Ladybug, as she was called, is a long haired, gray cat. I changed her name to Valkyrie since Freyja was the goddess in charge of the Valkyries in Norse mythology. I usually call her Kyrie, and she is the dominant cat in the house. The fourth cat my husband (Mr. I don’t like cats) adopted from a local shelter and named her Shelby after the sports car.

Did you have to say that! I had a brown recluse decide to sleep in my bed back in March of 1989 and I still have residual effects from his/her bite!

I agree, some things you just don’t get tired of seeing.

Yep, there goes your tip and definitely talk to the manager or owner. On the flip side, also talk to the manager or owner if a server has been exemplary. I did that years ago while traveling on business. Many restaurants at the time were not as welcoming to females dining alone and I had had some rather rude treatment. I was in one restaurant and the waiter was terrific, actually treated me like he wanted me as a customer so I did ask for the manager. What I didn’t know was that young man had a nasty customer prior to me and was really upset that night, which after I complimented his treatment of me, the manager told me they were afraid the nasty customer would ruin the server’s disposition. Quite the opposite, he as a fantastic server so I left him a 100% tip. I hope that made his night a little better.

I have to be very aware of where my Luci Fur is, she will come up behind me when she wants something, usually belly rubs, reach up and stick her claws in my butt/upper thigh area while meowing very loudly. As soon as I turn around, she runs to the official belly rub spot and rolls over. Thankfully she is the only one of the four that does that.

I am glad you are getting another rescue. I think the best tribute to the rescue on the other side of the Rainbow Bridge is to save another life by adopting a rescue.

I agree! I send their gift boxes to my tea-loving sister-in-law. She loves the gifts also.
