I blame the people who hired those politicians. How well did they check through the candidates before choosing?

Actually, if you start with the numbers of a successful landing and work back from there, it could lead to a design that works. Think Apollo 13, when they had to start all the circuits without tripping a breaker set at the maximum available. They worked back from the value of that breaker. It makes you have to find the design solution that provides the numbers of success, even if it is just, “Casualties = 0”. Of course that doesn’t mean it will be a usable solution, because of budget or politics or something. But at least you will have proven it is possible. Not quite what she is espousing, but when you are doing completely new things, you have to be open to possibilities.

This topic is why internationally renowned ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers) has a subdivision specifically for Women In Engineering. Women often prefer to do something caring instead of working with machines. WIE tries to convince them helping the world is worth the effort.

The science says…evolution instead of supernatural karma. Those too stupid to get a vaccine and use masks and also not healthy enough to survive will be weeded out by nature.

Our head engineer is a young Earther. I just pointed out to him that if there was a process to create so much oil in just 5000 years, we sure need to figure it out.

Not all of us. Trump is doing exactly what I voted him in for, shaking up the system. I just hope the shaking doesn’t break something important.

It is ridiculously easy to prove (by yourself) that the world isn’t flat. Just look at a sunset – notice that the sun clearly sinks BELOW the horizon line. That is impossible if (a) light travels in straight lines and (b) the world is flat. Notice further that for a while AFTER the sun has set, the clouds are lit from below…implying that the sun is still visible from the altitude of the cloud bottoms….meaning that the world must be curved. Simultaneously with this observation, you can phone someone who is watching the sun from a place a few hundred miles to the West and compare what they are seeing to what you are seeing. Making those observations fit the flat earth model fails on every possible level. So, yes – ANYONE can prove that the earth isn’t flat for themselves. That’s just one experiment you can do.

I resent that! My desk gets clean 3-4 times a year!
