I think he’s elaborating on the fact that they run older cartoons on the weekend? It’s not mean spirited to me, it’s more a funny jab at using older comics.
We once had a mole in our yard when I was a kid. I was hitting tennis balls against the garage wall one day, and he poked his head up. I whacked him with the tennis racket and that was that. My father, who had been working months trying to rid his yard of this beast was half proud/relieved that I was able to do this, but also half upset that he’d worked so hard and all it took was a tennis racket.
“That’s the trouble with you lefties — we conservatives think you’re wrong, But you think we’re evil. There’s simply no reasoning with you.”
“You Lefties” is just as bad as any racist remark you can make. Because with racism, you are lumping everyone you don’t like/think is wrong/is different than you into one neat and tidy group for you to dismiss, according to their race. With “You Lefties” it’s according to political affiliation. And it’s wrong on both counts, because you really can’t lump them all into one group, because they are all so different.
As for ad hominem attacks, While I could point at people on the left like Sam Seder, Lee Camp and others that use such attacks, they are not “big time” talk show hosts. Rush Limbaugh, Dana Loesch and others are nationally syndicated radio hosts who disparage “You Lefties” daily without breaking a sweat. Dana touts herself a Christian while doing it. I don’t think “the right” are evil, but there’s lots of people on “the right” that besmirch the concept of being on “the right”, you included. If only we all showed the compassion of the Christ we follow, we could live up to the concept of what “the right” is supposed to be.
tl;dr Your ass is showing. If you don’t want your ass to show, stop being one.
There is a finer point to it than that. If a gay couple came in and ordered a cake from a catalog, the baker would not be able to refuse. The couple that got refused in Oregon asked for something specifically gay on the cake, and you can’t force speech upon the baker.
I myself think that if they were true Christians, they would let their gods love show through in their works, not their refusals.
