Lisa Olson was the sports editor for my high school newspaper in Phoenix. I knew her in passing, but news and sports are separate worlds, so we didn’t interact. Also, I think she was a year or two older than me.

Me too. Sorta like the gag Shulz pulled when he was Grand Marshall of the Rose Bowl Parade and Lucy tells Linus, “Nobody you’ve heard of.”

As a teen I worked for Fotomat. Toured the processing lab once, where workers had a Wall of Fame. Let’s just say Janis is a little too heavily clad in fabrics to achieve that honor.

Keep in mind the kid walked in like nothing happened. It was only when Val asked her why she was there that we learned about the injury. So, obviously, Holly is OK and in no pain. And needing some costly repair.

Welcome to Super Bowl Sunday, the U.S.‘s annual celebration of commerce and branding. We cheer NFL franchises to see which owners/cities invested most judiciously on athletic bodies and micromanaging coaches, and wait with anticipation to see our lauded corporations spend millions on ads and marketing firms to entertain us in 30 seconds or less. Whilst feasting on non-nutritive foods that have tempted viewers all season, hopefully contributing to the obesity and hypertension that will force us to buy medicines to offset the physical damage. And if that hasn’t cost enough, there are plenty of opportunities to wager online one’s dwindling cash resources. Enjoy!
